stock investment letter

You know the mechanics of the division of assets in a divorce case?
If both parties have bank accounts, mutual funds, annuities, stocks and other investment accounts, how the courts are split 50-50%? 1. Each account is divided 50-50%? Or add cash accounts and divide by two? 2. Do courts to write a letter to financial institutions and ask them to send half the amount to the other party or the court? 3. Fifty percent split is effective on the day of the court order, the day the judge signed the papers the day Finacial institutions receive the papers? 4. Are the shares were sold or just split? 5. etc etc answer only if you have firsthand knowledge (or know of a website where I can check), please! Thanks
The settlement agreement is done before going to court. Either you sit down and figure the game or turn his lawyers loose. The judge just "bless" the division of property.
