Many people spend too much time reading as the reading habits are inefficient. If you are going to learn to read the speed then you have to replace these habits with new, more rational ones. One of these bad habits is the fact that we are used to read every word in the text. Means we have to read the texts in a linear fashion. We were taught in school that we have to read the texts of the word after word and we're still reading this way. But it is the most quick to deal with texts.
Why are we reading the texts? What is the purpose of it? We are not doing to read every word. The purpose of reading is to obtain information from the text. The words are only means of conveying information and read the words for information.
Many words in the text does not contain valuable information. Take an example. Consider the following sentence: "What is the purpose of cooking?" and compare "Objective of the kitchen?" The longest sentence contains no more, but that contains 7 words, while the shorter sentence is just 3 words. It will take less time to obtain information from the shorter sentence.
Normally it is not necessary to obtain all the information the text, but you are interested in the main question. Want to know what the author is saying. The information density is different for different texts, but in most cases possible to get the main point out of it when one third of the missing words.
It means that you will be able to understand the text if you miss every third word. So not really have to read every word. Instead, the eyes allow you to fly over the text and try to understand all you can, but not be limited by the habit that you have to read word for word. Keep a good speed so you can follow the main idea, then okay.
Changing reading habits is a matter of making changes to that way of thinking. If you want to be a speed reader, then you sentences have to approach a new way. Take the set of entities not as a set of single words. You receive a sentence as a whole and not pay attention to each word.
What you have to do to develop this type of habit? Start dealing with the texts in a way that you will fly over the text with his eyes. Increase the pace. Read what you can, without hesitation, if you miss some words. Follow the main message of the text.

AP Chem, AP PSYCH, AP U.S. HISTORY HELP!?
I have some pretty bad teachers do not teach when they are supposed to be. My goal is great and hope for a 5 on any and every one of the APS. so any good advice or someone to share resources can be incredible. I need it really bad. we some practice tests and I lost them.> <Thanks guys for all your help. but more specifically I'm looking reallyreally websites or good books.
AP Chem: Read the textbook or get a book review (Princeton Review is probably the best). Then start practicing problems. AP Chem is not a memory-based in the class (with the exception of about three units). Moreover, while teachers do not teach in class, consider reading the textbook and then asking them questions on problems and issues that do not understand. If your teacher hardly notyhing during class, then we recommend you read the text book / book review during class. Also, sure to identify problems when they arise in AP Chem When you have a problem but not solve, the problems accumulate and before you know it you are lost in AP Chem AP Psych: Read read read (the text book or book review-Barrons is best) and take notes. APUSH: Same as the AP Psych. Take good notes, always observed when read (trust me, it's worth it). Moreover, the practice of writing essays for AP. So basically, read and take notes, write essays and practice. APUSH not a class that requires much strategy. Only the study and attention to detail and be able to write. That's all. Be sure to ask your help if needed. Examples of AP Test instructions here: apcentral.collegeboard.com Good luck with the "terrible" teachers. I had terrible teachers and I know what AP B4 you mean.
